Snapshot-3I like juicing. There is nothing that tastes better than a juice made from good blend of fresh vegetables. Over the last thirty years I have owned several juicers. My current juicer is the Breville JE98XL Juice Extractor and I will state that it is the best that I have owned so far.

What to do with all that left over pulp? Toss it in the trash? Mulch it? Mulching can be dirty and stinky if you don’t have a large property to keep it from the house. Well, one word, “Snails.” I am environmentally minded and don’t use pesticides, but I also don’t like them munching my fruit and vegetables. Serendipity steps in.

Also being a bit lazy I decided to simply toss the pulp into my tomato pots. I live in a townhouse with a very small yard and patio, so pots are my solution. One morning I was checking my garden and there they were, my dreaded foe, Snails…. But wait! They were happily munching on the pulp and ignoring the plants…

This is great. The snails are turning the pulp into fertilizer that benefits my plants while leaving my plants alone. I guess one could call this a kind of armistice…
